Instant Pan Card - How to Download e-PAN Card?

An ePAN, or instant PAN card, is a virtual version of the PAN card containing the cardholder’s PAN data. It can be downloaded from either the NSDL or UTIITSL websites. After applying for the e-PAN card, it can be obtained within 48 hours at no cost.

The instant ePAN serves the same purposes as a regular PAN card, such as filing ITR, opening a Demat or savings account, and applying for a debit or credit card, etc.

Eligibility for Instant e PAN

To apply for an e-PAN, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • Only individual taxpayers can apply, excluding corporations, trusts, or associations.
  • No physical PAN card is required to apply.
  • A valid Aadhaar card is necessary to apply.
  • The mobile number must be linked to the Aadhaar card.
  • A valid Aadhaar card is mandatory for all applicants.

There are two methods to download the ePAN from the NSDL portal:

  • By using the Acknowledgement Number
  • By using the PAN number

How to Download e PAN Card from UTIITSL?

UTIITSL is another platform where applicants can apply for new PAN cards or modify existing ones. To download the ePAN, follow these steps:

  • Step 1: Visit the UTIITSL ePAN downloading page (https://www.pan.utiitsl.com/PAN_ONLINE/ePANCard).
  • Step 2: Fill in the necessary details such as PAN, date of birth/incorporation, GSTIN (optional), and security code. Click the ‘Submit’ button.
  • Step 3: Confirm that the mobile number and email linked to your PAN are correct, then enter the security code and check the declaration box.
  • Step 4: Enter the OTP sent to your registered phone number/email. Press the submit button.
  • Step 5: If the PAN issuance process takes more than a month, you will be required to pay Rs. 8.26 online.
  • Step 6: Once the process is complete, you will be able to download the ePAN immediately.

Steps to Download Instant PAN Card through Aadhar Card

You can also download your ePAN by using your Aadhaar card number:

Step 1: Go to the official Income Tax India website (https://www.incometax.gov.in/iec/foportal).

Step 2: Select the "Instant E-PAN" option from the ‘Quick Links’ section.

Step 3: On the next page, select ‘Check Status / Download PAN’ and click ‘Continue’. You will be directed to a new page to enter your 12-digit Aadhaar number.

Step 4: After submitting your Aadhaar number, enter the OTP sent to your registered mobile number for verification.

Step 5: Once verified, you will be redirected to a new page where you can view and download your ePAN card.
