The PAN is a unique 10-digit identification number assigned to individuals upon application, designed to monitor taxable financial transactions. Serving as both an identification tool and a method to detect tax fraud, the PAN card plays a crucial role.
Entities such as banks, corporations, and other financial organizations can verify an individual's PAN details with the Income Tax Department. This verification process helps confirm the authenticity of a PAN and detect fraudulent PAN cards.
The PAN verification service, available on the Income Tax Department's official e-filing portal, enables individuals to validate their PAN card. To use this feature, remembering your PAN is essential.
