As per the Government of India, Aadhaar card serves as the most important identity proof for Indian citizens. It contains essential information like fingerprints, iris data, and other personal details. Currently, Aadhaar is required for several daily activities such as opening a bank account, filing income tax returns, applying for a PAN card, obtaining a new mobile number, getting passports, etc.
You can obtain your Aadhaar card through Enrollment Centres, banks, or post offices. If you have already applied and wish to check the status, you can do so online on UIDAI's official website.
