The Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) now enables employees to easily connect their Aadhaar card with their Universal Account Number (UAN)/EPF account. This UAN Aadhaar linking process can be completed both online and offline.

UAN Aadhaar Link Online Process

You can link your UAN with Aadhaar online using any of the following methods:

  • Via the EPFO website
  • Using the UMANG app
  • Through the EPF Aadhaar link online KYC portal

1) How to Link UAN with Aadhaar Online via the EPFO Website?

Follow these steps to link your UAN with Aadhaar online:

Step 1: Visit the official EPFO website.

Step 2: Log in using your UAN and password.

Step 3: In the “Manage” section, choose the 'KYC' option.

Step 4: You will be redirected to a new page where you can connect your EPF account with your Aadhaar number.

Step 5: Click on “Aadhaar,” enter your Aadhaar number along with your name as it appears on your Aadhaar card, then click the “Save” button.

Step 6: Once you save your Aadhaar details, they will be verified using UIDAI data.

Step 7: If your KYC information is approved, your Aadhaar will be successfully linked to your EPF account, and “Verified” will appear next to your Aadhaar details.

2) How to Link Aadhaar to EPFO via the UMANG App?

The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) along with the National e-Governance Division (NeGD) launched the UMANG (Unified Mobile Application for New-age Governance) app to promote mobile governance in India. However, to claim your EPF online, you need to link your Aadhaar with your UAN, which automatically connects your EPF account to your Aadhaar card.

Here is a step-by-step guide on linking your UAN with Aadhaar using the UMANG app:

Step 1: Download the UMANG app from the Google Play Store or the Apple App Store.

Step 2: Enter your registered mobile number and tap "Continue".

Step 3: Input the OTP sent to your registered phone number and click "Submit", or log in using your MPIN.

Step 4: Once logged in, navigate to the “All Services” tab and select “EPFO”.

Step 5: In the EPFO section, choose “e-KYC services”.

Step 6: Under “e-KYC services”, select the "Aadhaar Seeding" option.

Step 7: Enter your UAN and click the “Get OTP” button.

Step 8: An OTP will be sent to the phone number registered with your EPF account.

Step 9: Enter the OTP along with your Aadhaar details, and click "Continue".

Step 10: After verifying the OTP sent to your registered mobile and email, your Aadhaar will be linked to your UAN successfully.

3) How to Link EPF with Aadhaar Online via the EPFO e-KYC Portal?

EPFO also offers the facility to link EPF accounts with Aadhaar using OTP verification through the EPFO e-KYC Portal.

Follow the steps below to connect your Aadhaar with your EPF account:

Step 1: Visit the official EPF India website.

Step 2: Under the “EPFO Members” section, select “Link with Aadhaar”.

Step 3: Enter your UAN and the mobile number registered with your account to generate an OTP.

Step 4: Input the OTP received on your mobile and click on "Confirm OTP" to proceed.

Step 5: Select your gender.

Step 6: Enter your Aadhaar card number.

Step 7: Choose “Using Mobile/Email-based OTP” as your Aadhaar Verification method.

Step 8: An additional OTP will be sent to your registered mobile number and email address.

Step 9: Enter the “Captcha” code along with the OTP.

Step 10: Click the “Submit” button. Once verified, your Aadhaar will be successfully linked to your EPF account through OTP verification on the EPFO e-KYC Portal.

UAN Aadhaar Link Offline Process

EPFO has also provided options for integrating the Aadhaar Card with an EPF account, catering especially to those who are not comfortable with digital processes. These individuals can visit the EPFO office to complete the linking process in person.

Simply follow these steps:

Step 1: Complete the “Aadhaar Seeding Application” form.

Step 2: Fill in the form with your UAN, Aadhaar number, and any other required details.

Step 3: Attach self-attested copies of your Universal Account Number, PAN, and Aadhaar along with the form.

Step 4: Submit the form to the official at any EPFO field office or Common Service Centre (CSC).

Step 5: After verification, your Aadhaar will be linked to your EPF account.

Step 6: You will receive a confirmation message on your registered mobile number.

How to Link Aadhaar to UAN Using Biometric Credentials?

You can also link your Aadhaar to your EPF account using Aadhaar biometric credentials on the EPFO e-KYC Portal by following these steps:

Step 1: Visit the official EPF India website.

Step 2: In the “EPFO Members” section, click on the “Link UAN Aadhaar” option.

Step 3: Enter your UAN and registered mobile number to receive an OTP.

Step 4: Type the OTP received in the “Confirm OTP” field.

Step 5: Select your gender.

Step 6: Enter your Aadhaar card number.

Step 7: Choose the “Using Biometrics” option for Aadhaar Verification.

Step 8: Your biometric data will be captured using a registered biometric device.

Step 9: Input the “Captcha” code and click the "Submit" button.

Step 10: After successful verification, your Aadhaar will be linked to your EPF account using biometric authentication via OTP on the EPFO e-KYC Portal.

How to Verify the Aadhaar EPF Link Status Online?

To confirm whether your Aadhaar Number is linked to your PF account, follow these steps:

Step 1: Visit the UAN portal.

Step 2: Log in by entering your Universal Account Number and password.

Step 3: Once you access the Member homepage, locate the Aadhaar section using the displayed details.

Step 4: If you see “Validated ( DEMOGRAPHIC)” adjacent to your Aadhaar Number, it means UIDAI has successfully linked and verified your Aadhaar with your EPF account.
